"All American" Night

VFW poost 3285 will be sponsoring an "All American" night at the  Post Home on July 26th starting at 6 pm.

Come help to celebrate the "All American" National VFW Award that the post won; this is the first time that post 3285 has won this top National VFW Award!

All vetrans, families, riends and neighbors are welcome for this event!  There will be free food, reduced drink prices and free entertainment provided by DJ Joe Allen, " The Magic Man".

Fort Detrick to Host Military Night in the Park

Fort Detrick, in partnership with the city of Frederk, Maryland, will host Military Night in the Park on July 26th at 6:30pm in Baker Park. This free and open to the public performance promises to entertain the crowd through both music and military precision.

The event will include performances by the 3rd U.S. Infantry (Old Guard), Fife and Drum Corps, the U.S. Army Drill Team and the U. S. Coast Guard Honor Guard; showcasing skills and professionalism while allowing community members to interact with members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Military Night in the Park will also be a time to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam, War. Veterans will be publicly recognized for their outstanding service to our Nation.

Frederick County Back to School Basketball Challenge

Back to School Challenge- A one day friendly tournament for all Frederick County AAU/Travel/Rec Teams to compete against one another.

3rd St. Judes 5K Run

Join the 3rd St. Judes's 5K Run on Saturday August 2nd. begining at 8  AM.

There will be music, vendors and raffles with great prizes.

 

The goal for this year is to raise $20,000.  All proceeds will go to St. Jude's childrens Hospital.

69th Annual Howard County Fair

The Howard County Fair is back!!  From August 2nd through August 9th, come out and enjoy the fun! 

Daily events include amusment rides, kids and critters barn, the bingo hall, pony rides, pig races and the Shazam Magic Show!

There will also be the Bull Blast, cattle shows, horse shows and monster truck madness!

Entertainment includes music from R & B Soul bands, oldies bands and rock bands.  On Saturday August 9th, the main entertainment will be Richie Rields (Country) beginning at 7:30pm.

 Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for seniors (62 and up).  Children under 10 years of age will get in free.

Govt. Thomas Johnson High School Fundraiser: Community Based Mattress Sale

On Saturday August 2nd from 10 am until 5 pm, the Thomas Johnson High School Patriots football team along with Coach, Jerry Smith will be hosting a community based mattress sale to help raise funds to upgrade the team's protective equipment.  These include new helmets and shoulder pads for the players. 

22 brandname mattresses will be on display and on sale for 30%-60% off of regular retail price. Each mattress sold will have a full non-prorated factory waranty and the team will recieve a  portion of the proceeds from every mattress sold. 

This event is sponsored by locallly owned and opperated fundraising  companies, Custom Fundraising Solutions and CFS Baltimore LLC. 

Come help this football team upgrade their protectie equipment!!

National Night Out

Join the Frederick Police Department in celebrating this year's National Night Out!! " On Tuesday, August 5th from 6 pm- 9 pm, over 36 million people in over 15,000 communities will join forces to promote community-police partnershipss.

Activities for the Frederick National Night Out location include safety info, K-9 Demos, giveaways, children's activities, police displays, and family activities.  There will also be food at the event!

Hard Times Cafe

Come out on Friday August 8th to Hard Times Cafe!  Enjoy the food, music, contests and fun!!   DJ Chris In The Mix will be there from 5pm-8pm.  There will be live music featuring Dead Eye Stare starting at 9pm going until 1 am.  

There will be a silent auction begining at 12am midnight.  

Specialty drinks as well as shooter shots are available all night.

The Frederick Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Catoctin Breeze Winery Second Concert

On Saturday, August 9th, The Frederick Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Catoctin Breeze Winery will hold the second concert of the Frederick Symphony Chamber Concert Series with a performance by Elaine Braynt. 

Elaine Bryant has experience as both a harp performer and teacher in Maryland and surrounding areas.  She has performed with local orchestras such as the Hopkins Symphony and the Gettysburg Symphony. On August 9th, Ms. Bryant will be performing, "A Harp in Time".

Located in picturesque Frederick County, Catoctin Breeze Winery is the ideal setting for a summer concert series.  Catoctin Breeze is an award-winning winery seated along the rolling hills of Eastern Appalachia's Catoctin Mountains.  With stuning views and gentle breezes, the winery is the perfect backdrop for an evenign of music under the summer stars.

The Frederick Clustered Spires High Wheel Race

Come watch America’s only High-Wheel (Penny Farthing) bike race in historic downtown Frederick. This will be a unique 1-hour race featuring riders of antique or replica high wheel bicycles that were popular in the 19th century. Come and celebrate the history of bicycles! 4th Annual Relentless Golf Classic Benefiting Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Help Sponsor the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

On Friday, September 12, 2014, the 4th Annual Relentless Golf Classic will be held at The Links at Challedon. This is a 4 person scramble of 18 holes of golf.  The cost is $80 per person or $320 per foursome.

There will be an open driving range before te-off. Donuts, bagles and coffee during registration (beginning at 7:30am). Hot dogs will be avialabe at the turn.

1st and 2nd place teams; 4 closest to the pins; and 2 longest drives, will be given prizes.

There will also be a raffle where you can enter to win great prizes as well as a 50/50 putting contest which the winner will erceive 50% of the putting contest entry fee.The Cost to enter the putting contest is $5.

The Frederick Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Catoctin Breeze Winery Third Concert

On Saturday, September 20th, the Frederick Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with Catoctin Breeze Winery, will hold the third and final concert of the Frederick Symphony Chamber Concert SEries with an outstanding performance by the Fredericktowne String Quartet. 

The Fredericktown String Quartet is a performing ensemble composed of Frederick-area residence who have been performing in the area since 1999.  The quartet is made up of Suzanne Buxbaum and Alyssa Boxhill on violin, Richard Kamakaris on viola and J. Thomas Mitchell on cello.  On September 20th, the Fredericktowne String Quartet will perform selections from Mozart, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Schubert.
