Toni Ryan Says... The Blog

This is my blog, but you can read it.  (at your own risk of course.  LOL.)

Hysterical. I am losing weight

As a lifelong non-certified Professional Dieter, I have seen it and done it all. If amputation was a reasonable option, I would have considered it. (I have a very large head -- ask my mom -- don't think that offing my own head hasn't been considered)

This diet makes me laugh because I cannot believe 1) how EASY it is and 2) that IT IS WORKING.

Medifast is over in the Westview Promenade on Buckeystown Pike -- love them. Everyone is super nice, friendly, helpful, supportive. That's what you want when you reach out to other people to help you through a weight loss program. My biggest thing about doing a diet or wellness program is how I feel about the people you're dealing with. Nothing worse than walking into a place where you have to bravely talk about something so personal. It's very very difficult.

When you walk in, you're probably at the end of a long decision process to finally DO IT, so if you're like me, you're already feeling pretty crappy about yourself and the last thing you want is to be talking to people who make you feel worse. Weight is a totally sensitive topic. I get it, 'coz I have been in that spot many times.

.... but there you are, in this beautiful Medifast office, and they're relaxed, and genuine, and totally honest. A lot of them have been in this position too, so they know how you feel about taking that first step. They also have medical professionals on staff, so it's all legit -- none of these random part-timers who got the job on Craig's List who just fill out forms and say stuff to you that's from a script. and have no idea what they're talking about because they were born skinny. (grr, you naturally skinny people!!)

So, if you're squeamish about that first step, give Dianne & her crew at Medifast a call. Or stop in, just to see what it's about. Try out the consult and see if it's for you -- I know sometimes some weight loss plans aren't for everybody, but I think Medifast is worth checking out.

Here is all their contact info (they're super easy to find in the Westview Promenade, near the AMC)... you can give them a call at (301) 695-5678 (make sure you tell 'em I said HI!)... and they are also online.

TGFP-PF

TGFP-PF.... that's stands for THANK GOD FOR PRE-PACKAGED FOOD.... Thank you, Medifast, for psychic-ly knowing that I wouldn't fare well on a weight loss plan without pre-packaged food.

Man! CRAPPY days like TODAY, where everything decides to go wrong....

.... and the notorious Stress-Eater in me feels like doing something totally self-destructive with a candy bar or an overpriced bag of chips....

PEANUT BUTTER CRUNCH bar to the rescue!!!

Yay! It's one of my 5 Medifast daily meals ... and it's delicious! Props to Dianne at Medifast for convincing me that these were a popular item for a reason! LOL. Also, my Medifast meal right before that was Vegetarian Sloppy Joe... which I was expecting to hate... but holy cow, it was totally yum. I admit, I pre-judge anything marked Vegetarian and it was a pleasant surprise being completely wrong.

How do I finally get this lucky, to be losing weight, not be miserable while doing it, and actually get to eat food I'm enjoying.... LOL. Knock on wood, my friends! :)

So here we go....

Soooo.... I just started with Medifast last week... and it's going pretty well!!!

I get a little weird when I talk openly about weight or having to lose weight, so the fact that I am now blogging it to share with you.... well, that should tell you something.

If you're not familiar with Medifast -- it is a weight control management system that I've been really looking into over the last few weeks. After years of yo-yo'ing, and then finally thinking I had it all under control, for some reason the last few years haven't been going so great! All the weight I'd "lost" and been so good at keeping off... well somehow I found them again... AND THEN SOME!

Ugh!

I'd been a "point counter" for YEARS and YEARS... and I guess I just got good at cheating the system... and sorta missed having clear instructions on how to manage my weight. Plus, I always have such a weird schedule -- Believe, me, not having kids, but needy friends who seem to want your attention at a moment's notice sure can make a single gal's life VERY HECTIC!! LOL. So having food at the ready when I got hungry (whenever that would happen) would be such a problem. I'd end up starving for hours until I found a drive-thru window with a dollar menu! ERG. I guess it really isn't a mystery how I "fell off the wagon", rofl.

So anyhow, I started researching different weight loss plans, but focused on the ones that help me with some prepared foods and more specific choices to choose from. "Freedom of choice" might seem like a great thing for some dieters... but that just doesn't work for me, especially when my day is going 90mph ... in auto-pilot, no less!

... and lo and behold... Medifast... with a location right on in the Westview Promenade.

I've got plenty to tell you about how the first few days went -- the good, the bad, and the not-so-pretty -- so keep checking back here on my blog. I'd never really heard of Medifast til I got to Frederick, so if you have as many questions as I did at first, I will keep sharing with you what I'm learning ... So far, I'm really excited about how the rest of my journey will go based on the last few days, but that's all I'll say for now :)

I will try to add more soon, but in the meantime, you can check 'em out online.... here's a link to one of the pages that'll explain how it works.

... and yes, stop by the Frederick Medifast center off of Buckeystown Pike, by the AMC theater... everyone is super nice and helpful -- and that is saying a lot coming from me!!! Diane and the gang there will take good care of you (but please tell them I sent you!!)
