Plus\, you’ll be invited to join a private Facebook group to share your experience with other 100 Milers!\nPrizes listed below are updated weekly.\nKick-Off Event\nOn Friday\, January 14 at 5pm\, the program kicks-off and 100 Milers will walk the first mile together at Fairgrounds Park in Hagerstown.  On-site registration will also be available. For those not comfortable to meet and walk in person\, the annual kick-off will also be live streamed for participants to walk from the comfort of their own neighborhood or inside on a treadmill. DESCRIPTION:On March 18\, Operation Paws for Homes welcomed 84 dogs into the rescue…EIGHTY-FOUR in one night!  The dogs came from tremendously overcrowded shelters – many of the dogs were just hours from being euthanized.  A number of these dogs needed medical attention and volunteers have been working to get them well enough to go to their forever homes.\nMedical care is expensive and raising funds to cover the care is not always easy\, but it can be fun. Join us for the 7th Annual Fast & Furriest 5K on April 24 at Heritage Farm Park in Walkersville\, MD. Proceeds from the event go toward the more than $150\,000 in medical expenses OPH incurs annually.\nIn addition to the race we have an onsite silent auction with some fantastic items!  Gift cards for restaurants\, hair salons\, car care\, dog supplies\, household goodies and baskets donated by local businesses are waiting for you.  After the race/walk\, visit the food trucks to grab a coffee\, grilled cheese or snowball!  Does your dog need an ear cleaning\, a quick wash/dry or nails clipped?  HydroDog is waiting to serve! SUMMARY:7th Annual Fast & Furriest 5K/1M
DESCRIPTION:The 7th Annual Fast & Furriest 5K race and 1M walk to benefit Operation Paws for Homes – an all-breed 501c3 dog rescue – is one of the rescue’s largest annual fundraisers which is focused on raising funds toward the medical needs of our dogs.\nEach year\, Operation Paws for Homes incurs over $150\,000 in medical costs.  This event aims to replenish a piece of those funds.  We encourage families\, runners\, walkers\, supporters and anyone interested in helping this organization while enjoying a fun event.  Along with a silent auction\, vendors will be greeting you as they\, too\, support OPH.  Each auction item will feature a “Donate and Dash” amount.  Just donate the D&D amount and take the goodies with you!  No waiting for final bidding.  As always\, we welcome your leashed dogs to run or walk the course\, too!\nThis year’s 5k event is both live and virtual!  The live race will be held on Sunday\, April 24\, 2022.  Participants should be on site by 8AM.  The virtual 5k race can be run from Saturday\, April 23\, until Tuesday\, April 25.  The deadline for switching from live to virtual has ended.  Please email the race director to change.\nIf you are registered for the virtual race by March 25\, your race shirt will be mailed directly to your home!   (Registrations received after March 24 cannot be mailed.).\nTell all your friends and family – wherever they are located – they\, too\, can participate in this event and support the many dogs that need us every single day.  Let’s make it coast to coast this year!  Hybrid events have become more common since COVID-19 has taken over our lives.  We are excited to host this event again and hope you are just as excited to join us !
