Chief Lando Homelessness All-Nighter
October 10 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The event will be held on Friday evening, October 10 beginning at 8 pm near the trellis along Carroll Creek Linear Park. Chief Lando will stay up all night until 8 am the following day to simulate the terrible conditions encountered by many homeless people.
The event will feature a program on Friday evening from approximately 9 pm – 11 pm and will include:

Addresses by Chief Lando and other Frederick dignitaries to be announced.
•
A brief candlelight vigil to honor local homeless individuals who have died due to homelessness led by Lynette Cary, PhD, a board member with Beyond Shelter.
•
Fill the cruiser! Opportunity for citizens to fill a police cruiser with food and personal care items to be donated to homeless shelters.
•
Board of hope! Opportunity for citizens to leave encouraging messages and ideas to end homelessness on a white board for all to see.
•
Entertainment by local radio station to be announced.
•
Free pizza, soft drinks, water, and coffee donated by Frederick businesses.
•
Information tables from the Frederick agencies who serve the homeless with an opportunity to donate to them.
The event will conclude on Saturday morning, October 11, at approximately 7:30 am with a rally to end homelessness. The date of the event – October 10 – is World Homeless Day. The day brings communities together to raise awareness about the needs of people experiencing homelessness and to promote solutions. It serves as a platform to celebrate good works, benchmark progress, advocate for improved policies and funding that can help prevent and end homelessness.
